How Do I Become The 'Pack Leader'?

Be Strict!

We use "The Rules" to help owners like yourself realise that becoming the Pack Leader is not that hard. However, like most dog training methods, the key is always in consistancy.

You can get a PDF copy of The Rules to pin up on your fridge by clicking the link above but for convenience we have also listed them below.Training To Be The Leader Of The Pack

  • Don't allow your dog on the furniture unless you request it;
  • Keep at least one room of the house out of bounds;
  • Feed the dog after yourself and the rest of the family;
  • Don't let the dog go through doorways/stairways first;
  • Greet the rest of the family before your dog when arriving home;
  • Don't let your dog demand attention call him to you for a fuss then send him away;
  • Never step over your dog. Move him out of your way instead;
  • When out walking frequently change direction so that he knows you are leading the way! Of course these rules won't instantly make you leader of the pack but they will set the tone. Above all though, Be Consistant!

    We hope that this answered your question but if not, please feel free to submit any further questions you have using the form below.
