After being abandoned by their owners, two kittens are being fed with all the cat food they need by the RSPCA. The charity's North Wiltshire branch took the felines in last month, after they were found in different parts of Swindon within three days of each other.
On January 8th 2010 the first was brought in after being found in the Westlea area looking very thin and suffering digestive problems.
The second cat was discovered on the Wichelstowe estate before being taken to the Drove veterinary surgery by a member of the public.
Inspector at the RSPCA Steph Daly said these types of abandonments are all too common in the months after the festive period.
Honorary chairman for the branch Trish Philpot added such incidents should remind the public of the importance of helping with fostering and fundraising.
"Our work often includes veterinary treatment as well as general care such as food and shelter and without fundraising we cannot do this," she said.
In England and Wales, someone rings the RSPCA's helpline every 25 seconds - the charity received one million calls in 2008. Click here for more information on cat food |
