Moving from the US to the UK would be enough of an adventure for most pooches - but it appears Sarafina is different. The husky shepherd cross went missing from Debra Drew's new home in Chester-le-Street shortly after she emigrated in 2009, according to the Sunderland Echo. For the past 20 weeks she has put up posters around County Durham and Wearside in an attempt to track down her beloved canine. Although there have been sightings of the animal near rivers in Washington and north Sunderland, no one has been able to stop the pooch in his tracks.
"We've just moved here, so Sarafina would have relied on her scent to get home. But at the time she went missing there was heavy snow, which melted and washed the scent away," Ms Drew explained.
People who lose their canines or felines are able to put details on the UK National Missing Pets Register, a database of animals who have disappeared from their homes.
