Huskies are the most loving pets anyone could wish for. This is the view of Val McAllister, who told the Manchester Evening News her pets Myshka and Diesel are "worlds apart from other dogs". In an attempt to spread the word about the animal, Ms McAllister arranged a meet-up for members of the husky-owners.com forum in Heaton Park earlier this week. A total of 37 husky lovers attended the meeting, where Ms McAllister said she was keen to dispel some of the myths surrounding the animal. "We like to think we can educate people. Although they look like wolves, they are no nearer related to them than you or I," she explained.
Huskies play differently to normal dogs due to their size and "talk" rather than barking, Ms McAllister claimed.
The animals are also an essential part of a growing sport which crosses running with giving dogs exercise.
Canicross involves attaching a canine with a dog harness and going for jogs through rural areas.
